Mui Ne Visa Run Cost 2026

What a Mui Ne Visa Run Actually Costs

One price for the car, one government fee at the border, nothing sneaky in between. Here is the full 2026 breakdown for the Mui Ne to Moc Bai run, in VND and USD.

Private car

4.2M VND

per car, door to gate, same-day return. Best value for two or three travelers.

Shared seat

1.4M VND

per seat in a shared van via Phan Thiet. The solo traveler's option.

Border visa

USD 30

Cambodia tourist visa, paid in cash at the Bavet window. Never part of our price.

The honest total

Most travelers spend between USD 90 and USD 120 all in

That includes the car, the Cambodia visa, and food for the day. A solo traveler on a shared seat lands near the bottom of that range. A couple in a private car splits 4.2M VND and lands in the middle. The only way the bill climbs past USD 120 is if you add the 90-day e-visa desk or choose an overnight in Bavet.

Transport prices

Mui Ne to Moc Bai, two ways to book

Both options pick you up at your hotel and bring you home the same day. The only real question is whether you want the car to yourselves.

Private Car Run

Your own air-con car and driver, from resort lobby to the border gate and back. The pick for couples, small families, and anyone who wants to move on their own clock.

  • Private car, fuel, tolls and highway fees included
  • Pickup on the Ham Tien strip or Phan Thiet town
  • Bilingual border guidance at Moc Bai

Shared Seat Run

A seat in a shared van that collects riders along the Mui Ne strip and in Phan Thiet, then heads for the border. The budget answer when you are traveling alone.

  • Shared van seat via Phan Thiet
  • Hotel pickup and same-day return included
  • Border guidance included

Per seat

Prices are for 2026 and include everything on the road. The Cambodia visa is a separate government payment made at the gate in cash.

How the private car price splits between you

2.1M VND

each, two travelers splitting a 4.2M private car

1.4M VND

each, three travelers in one private car

~1.05M VND

each, if four of you squeeze into one car

A three-person group in a private car pays the same per head as a shared seat, with the whole vehicle to themselves. That is the math most kitesurf crews land on.

At the border

Cash Fees at Moc Bai and Bavet

Two governments collect money on run day. Neither takes a card at the land gate, so cash planning is half the job.

Cambodia visa on arrival

  • USD 30 tourist visa, single entry, 30 days
  • USD 35 ordinary visa, if you need one
  • Cash only. Clean, unfolded USD notes are expected
  • One passport photo, 4 by 6 cm, or pay for one at the booth
  • Pay in dong only if you must; the rate is poor, roughly 1.3M VND

The smarter prep: Cambodia e-visa

File online at evisa.gov.kh before run day and you skip the on-arrival window entirely. The official fee is USD 36 and the visa is accepted at the Bavet land gate. You walk up, get stamped, done. Stockouts of visa stickers at Bavet have been reported around Tet and Khmer New Year, which is exactly when the pre-arranged e-visa earns its keep.

We can walk you through the e-visa application when you book, or you can handle it yourself in about ten minutes with a passport photo and a card.

Optional add-ons

The Vietnam Side: Your 90-Day E-Visa

A border run only resets your clock if you have a fresh visa ready for re-entry. The desk handles that part so Moc Bai is a formality on the way home.

The government e-visa portal charges USD 25 for a single-entry visa and USD 50 for multiple entry, both valid for up to 90 days, with standard processing around three working days. Filing it yourself on evisa.gov.vn is free of service fees but you own the photo rules, the payment step, and any correction round-trips.

Our visa desk removes those steps. You upload your passport page and a portrait when you book, we file the application the moment Moc Bai stamps you out, and you get the approval PDF by email and WhatsApp.

  • Standard, single entry: USD 40 all in, filed same day you exit
  • Standard, multiple entry: USD 70 all in
  • Faster tiers if you are tight on days: 1 to 2 day and same-day options exist

Run-day budget example

A solo traveler who wants everything handled: shared seat 1.4M VND, Cambodia e-visa handled before the run, and the 90-day Vietnam e-visa filed at the border. Message us for the combined price; it comes out well under the cost of a flight out of Vietnam.

The Cambodia e-visa filing is a separate government fee of USD 36 plus a small handling charge if you want us to do it.

Three Realistic Day Budgets

Figures use the 2026 rate of about 26,000 VND per US dollar and assume you pay the USD 30 tourist visa in cash. Meals on the road run 150,000 to 250,000 VND for a good day of eating.

Traveler Transport Cambodia visa Food and extras Day total
Solo traveler Shared seat, 1.4M VND USD 30 (about 780K VND) 200K VND about 2.4M VND (USD 92)
Couple Private car, 4.2M VND split two ways USD 60 total 400K VND about 6.2M VND (USD 238)
Family of three Private car, 4.2M VND split three ways USD 90 total 600K VND about 7.1M VND (USD 275)

Add USD 40 per traveler for the 90-day e-visa desk at standard speed, or USD 36 for a Cambodia e-visa filed before the run if you want to skip the on-arrival window.

Money tips

Ways to Keep the Day Cheap and Smooth

Bring USD in small, clean notes

The Cambodia visa desk wants crisp, unfolded US bills. Torn or heavily marked notes get refused. A mix of 10s and 20s covers the USD 30 fee without fishing for change.

There is no ATM at the border

The nearest reliable cash machines are back in Phan Thiet. Sort your cash before pickup, because at 10 in the morning at Moc Bai there is no good backup plan.

Fuel and tolls are already covered

Nothing on the road is added to your bill. The quoted price is the price, which is why the private car number looks higher than a van seat and still ends up cheaper per head for a couple.

Book two or three days ahead

Same-day bookings are sometimes possible, but the 90-day e-visa desk needs lead time, and the Cambodia e-visa takes about three working days. Early booking also locks your preferred pickup slot on the strip.

Cost Questions, Answered

Is the price per car or per person?

The private car is 4,200,000 VND per car, which suits two or three travelers. Two people split it to 2,100,000 VND each, three to 1,400,000 VND each. The shared seat is 1,400,000 VND per person and is the usual pick for solo travelers.

What do I pay for at the border?

Only your Cambodia visa, in cash at the Bavet window: USD 30 tourist or USD 35 ordinary. Clean US dollar notes are expected. It is a government payment and never part of our service price.

How much is the 90-day Vietnam e-visa through your desk?

USD 40 per traveler for standard single entry, filed the moment Moc Bai stamps you out, and USD 70 for multiple entry. Faster tiers from 1 to 2 day down to same-day hours cost more. The official government fee is USD 25 single or USD 50 multiple if you file yourself on evisa.gov.vn.

Should I pay in USD or VND?

Bring clean USD for the Cambodia visa. The rate if you only have dong is poor, so budget around 1,300,000 VND when you cannot pay in dollars. Keep dong for meals and coffee on the road, where USD is not useful.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The price covers pickup from your resort on the Ham Tien strip or from Phan Thiet town, the roughly 270 km drive to Moc Bai and back, fuel, tolls, border guidance, and same-day return. You pay extra only for what you choose: the Cambodia visa, meals, an e-visa filing, or an overnight in Bavet.

Can three or four of us split one private car?

Yes. The car carries up to three adults with luggage comfortably, and a fourth can usually squeeze in, bringing transport down to about 1,050,000 VND each. Tell us your group size when you book and we will confirm the right vehicle.

Running from somewhere else?

If you are not based in Mui Ne or Phan Thiet, the numbers change with the drive. Ho Chi Minh City runs share the same Moc Bai gate but price differently because the road is shorter, and the Cambodia visa guides cover the same Bavet window from the other side.
